Why not just use a shared folder?
It's a fair question — a link to a cloud folder is free and you already have one. Here's what changes when the media your studio delivers is ultrasound media, and the people opening it are on a phone.
| Compare features | Sonoshare | Shared cloud folder | DVD or USB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Getting media to your client | |||
| How a client opens it | Any mobile browser — no app to download | A browser, or the storage provider's app | A computer with a disc drive or USB port |
| How a client signs in | A code texted to their phone, or an email link | A shared link, or an account with the provider | In person, at your studio |
| If they lose the link | They sign back in with the phone or email on file | You find and resend it | You make another copy |
| Video, on a phone | |||
| What happens to a raw sonogram clip | Re-encoded for mobile playback, automatically | Stored and served as the original file | Written to the disc as-is |
| Thumbnails | Generated with the video | Generic file previews | |
| Largest single upload | 2 GB, uploaded in retryable chunks | Varies by provider and plan | Whatever the disc or drive holds |
| Control over what you have shared | |||
| Sharing expires on its own | Always — the client picks how soon, up to 90 days | Only when someone remembers to revoke it | A copy can never be recalled |
| PIN on a shared link | Optional, set by the client | Varies by provider | |
| Roles for your staff | Admin and Tech, per team member | Folder permissions | |
| Encryption at rest & in transit | Varies by provider | ||
| Whose brand the client sees | |||
| Branding on the gallery | Yours — logo, accent color, and your-studio.sonoshare.baby | The storage provider's | Whatever you print on the disc |
| Watermarks on your images or video | Never | None | None |
| Ads shown to your clients | None, on any plan | None | None |
| Booking page for new clients | Included on every plan | ||
| What it costs you | |||
